What's the Right Age for Braces?
It is recommended to see an orthodontist around the age of 8. Not all permanent teeth may be present but a professional evaluation can determine the need for earlier intervention. Early treatment (Phase I treatment) can be used to develop growing children which may not be possible in the teenage years.
If there is no need for early treatment, we wait until age 11-13 to start orthodontic treatment. The exact age usually depends on two factors: their treatment needs and how many permanent teeth are in the mouth. This is the optimal time to move teeth as we still have a chance to modify growth and move teeth effectively.
The decision to straighten your smile can start for any age, and many adults are seeking orthodontic treatment. Treatment widely ranges from simple alleviation of crowding or fully correcting the bite with surgical orthodontics. Whether with traditional braces, ceramic braces or Invisalign, we can help you achieve the smile you dreamed about.
